Carl Larsen

Senior Staff Attorney

Carl was born in San Francisco, but he grew up in Puerto Rico where his mother is from. He returned to the mainland to attend Harvard College, and graduated with an A.B. in government. Carl later moved to the Washington, D.C. area to earn his J.D. at Georgetown University Law Center. As a law student, Carl volunteered and interned with our sister organization CARECEN DC, and decided to practice immigration law. After graduating from law school, he returned to San Francisco and earned admission to the California Bar in January 2015. Carl joined La Raza Community Resource Center in the Mission District and led its immigration legal team for over seven years. Carl’s career came full-circle when he joined CARECEN SF. His commitment to migrant justice stems from his Puerto Rican roots and first-hand, formative experience of U.S. colonialism. During his free time, Carl reads science fiction and fantasy, expresses himself through (amateur) makeup artistry, and scorches local dancefloors – wherever the DJs play house music.
