October 31 – November 7, 2019
A cohort of young participants of CARECEN SF’s Second Chance Youth Program traveled to Mexico City during the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations to emerge themselves in cultural exchange with artists and activists living there. They visited El Faro del Oriente Cultural Center, Otros Dreamers en Acción, an organization that empowers youth who have been deported from the U.S. and Albergue Tochan, a shelter for Central Americans.
This life changing experience was captured by this video directed by Victorino Cartagena, Case Manager and Peer Educator for CARECEN SF. We hope you enjoy it.
Please consider making a donation to RAÍCES (Roots) Youth Travel Cohort so that we may continue to expose young people to the culture, history and social movements of our countries of origin.
