Program Manager

Tomasa is an indigenous Maya K’iche’ woman, born in Guatemala. She is among the first Mayan women in her region to graduate college and has dedicated her career to improving the lives of marginalized women. She led community focused programs empowering rural women and supporting girls education, and training teachers in order to practice equity in the classroom. In the academic field, she has taught university classes about women and gender equity. In the political field, she has represented women’s organizations. Now living in this country, she is following the same path and pursuing justice by promoting healthy habits in the communities and training and leading a team of health educators. She received her baccalaureate degree in social work from the Universidad Rafael Landívar, Guatemala, a certificate in Higher Education Instruction, and earned a Community Mental Health Worker Certificate at City College of San Francisco. Her interests include cooking, gardening and traveling.
