Board Vice President

Dr. Angela Gallegos-Castillo is a seasoned educator, facilitator, and heart-centered practitioner with over three decades of experience in the nonprofit sector. Her work focuses on community engagement, public health, equity and inclusion, youth development, organizational growth, and healing-centered practices. Known for building trust-based relationships, she has led and contributed to impactful community and government initiatives addressing systemic inequities in education, health, and justice. Dr. Gallegos-Castillo is the Community Builder and Planner for Roadmap to Peace (RTP), a San Francisco-based peacebuilding initiative in collaboration with Instituto Familiar de la Raza. She also partners with nonprofits as a strategic consultant and facilitator. She co-founded SoulSpeak, a transformational women’s retreat that blends ancestral and healing practices to support individual and collective wellness.

Bilingual (Spanish/English) and bicultural (Mexican/U.S.), Dr. Gallegos-Castillo is a proud native of the San Francisco Bay Area with deep roots in working alongside Spanish-speaking immigrant communities. She is a lifelong learner of Indigenous healing practices across Abya Yala and brings this wisdom into her community-based work. She holds a BA in Political Science from Santa Clara University with a focus on Latin America and a Master’s and PhD in Ethnic Studies from UC Berkeley, where her research explored identity formation among Mexican female adolescents. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys cooking for loved ones, dancing, listening to music, and spending time with her family. She lives in Berkeley, California, with her spouse, two children, and their dog, Dulce.
