About Kali K’íin (Home of the Sun)

Kali K’íin (Home of the Sun) is a collaborative working space shared by CARECEN SF and
Instituto Familiar de la Raza. The following programs are housed at Kali K’íin: CARECEN SF’s
Family Wellness Program, Health Promotions Program and Marketing Department. Instituto
Familiar de la Raza houses its Indígena Health and Wellness Program. Both organizations work
in alignment to serve immigrant, indigenous and under resourced families in San Francisco
through a range of social services including comprehensive case management, mental health,
and youth support. Services provided also include health education, leadership development,
and parent-child engagement.

Responsibilities

This position is the first point of contact for community members inquiring and receiving
services with CARECEN SF and Instituto Familiar de la Raza at Kali K’íin. He or she will manage
the sites’ reception desk, welcome program participants, visitors and staff, as well as provide
them with assistance. The receptionist position serves all programs housed at Kali K’ìin and will
be supervised by CARECEN SF’s Family Wellness and Health Promotions Director.

Required Qualifications

• Answer multi-line telephone and transfer calls to the appropriate staff member
• Conduct office tasks such as photocopying, responding to mail and other duties as assigned
• Screen calls, greet and assist drop-in clients speak with the appropriate staff person
• Triage clients seeking services at Kali K’íin to appropriate program staff
• Order shared and program specific supplies
• Provide administrative and program assistance as assigned by supervisor
• Coordinate office communications between all Kali K’íin staff, including disseminating emails
with relevant information for all staff and taking notes at all staff meetings
• Log and distribute daily mail and prepare outgoing mail on a daily basis
• Maintain supply closets organized and neat
• Maintain and update client information and program board and/or handouts related to other
existing resources in the Bay Area
• Maintain calendar for shared office space/meeting rooms
• Maintain the reception area orderly, clean and safe for children and families
• Assist in maintaining common spaces, including kitchen, conference rooms, bathroom
• Maintain grievance procedure information, as well as other public information that can be of
use to clients and service providers

Preferred Qualifications

• Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
• Minimum two years in program support and customer service
• Understanding of client and community needs
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrates the ability to multitask, be reliable and detail oriented
• Efficiency in writing and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Able to meet deadlines and work efficiently within a team structure
• Able to follow and understand oral and written instructions
• Experience working with MS Office, Excel, Google Calendars and Docs, and other basic
platforms and programs
• Must maintain client and agency’s confidentiality and demonstrate discretion with sensitive
material
• Use good judgment and approach when interacting with others
• Resourceful and proactive in providing clients with information and referrals for services
beyond those offered by site agencies
• Must be punctual
